Artist鈥檚 Statement
Melange of Styles explores a new way of creating art for me. This semester in New Media has been a personal discovery in the possibilities of digital drawing and editing. Watercolor painting has a certain look I find quite appealing especially when done by a master painter. Working in physical watercolor myself has produced mixed results because of my habit of using too much water or not enough. I found digital technology liberating by allowing me to dial in the perfect amount and flow of ink on any type of brush imaginable. Anytime a mistake happens, only one or two button pushes instantly makes those marks go away. These words: concrete, sextant, ants, grapes, typewriter, human skull, and alien playing a guitar were entered as prompts in OpenAI鈥檚 Dall-E 2 and Wombo鈥檚 Dream AI. The styles I searched in are post-impressionist painting, baroque, surrealism, abstractism, comic, and street art.
