MSU BILLINGS NEWS SERVICES 鈥 The American Association of University Women鈥檚 (AAUW) Billings branch is pleased to announce 麻豆官网首页入口免费 Assistant Professor of History Dr. Emily Arendt as the special guest speaker for its December program.
Arendt will be presenting, 鈥淧ossets and Pumpkin Pies: A Brief Culinary History of the Holidays.鈥
The program begins soon after noon on Saturday, Dec. 10, in Banquet Rooms A and B in Rimrock Caf茅 on the University Campus and is free to the public.
Arendt received the 2016 Dr. Tasneem Khaleel Award for Mentoring Young Female Professionals for her work with AAUW鈥檚 SmartStart program, which provides instruction to women on how to negotiate for more equitable salaries. In 2015, she received a fellowship at the New York Public Library in support of her research into the relationship between food and partisanship during the early years of the United States.
The mission is to advance equality for women and girls.
Founded on November 28, 1881, by 17 female college graduates, AAUW has developed a rich tradition of leadership, scholarship, advocacy, and action. AAUW has shaped the social, political, and economic scene for women, including the fight for pay equity; a woman鈥檚 right to vote; and legislation that protects women at home, in schools, and in the workplace.
Today, AAUW numbers more than 100,000 members, 1,300 branches, and 500 college and university partners, of which MSUB is one.
Guests are welcome to have lunch in the cafeteria, with service starting at 11:00 a.m. MSUB faculty, staff, and students can use their U-cards, or they (and other guests) can pay for lunch by getting payment slips from AAUW for $10.
