MSU BILLINGS NEWS鈥The MSU Billings Department of Art is proud to announce the senior thesis exhibition of Kari J. Adams. The exhibition will be held at the MSU Billings Student Gallery located in the Liberal Arts building from April 15 through Aug. 23, with a reception on April 25.
The event is free and open to the public.
Rouche Jaune looks at the elements that affect the Yellowstone River through human influence and
explores the delicate evolution that results from this interaction. The organic environments
on Earth and our constructed civilizations are in a continuing battle to negotiate
power over geographical boundaries. Humans want to get closer to nature by living
closer to its edge, like building river front property, yet in the process are jeopardizing
the future of the river鈥檚 path. Too often, the effect on our rivers goes unnoticed
in preference of developing civilization.
Adams was born and raised in Billings, Mont. She began her college career at MSU Billings and briefly studied Graphic Design at MSU Bozeman. She left college to pursue a career with the Walt Disney Corporation, but returned to Billings to raise her son.
Currently, Adams is completing two degrees in Art Education and a Bachelor of Fine Arts. Art is her therapeutic outlet and getting back into the studio re-ignited her passion for creating fine art. She expects to combine her degrees and use them to influence others to be more aware of their actions that affect the land and alter it for future generations.
Adams is currently a house artist for Fork & Fuel on Gabel Road in Billings and has helped in curating student exhibitions while attending MSUB.
