MSU Billings student honored as 2019 Newman Civic Fellow
Junior Brenna Beckett recognized for serving her campus and community

MSU BILLINGS NEWS鈥Brenna Beckett,麻豆官网首页入口免费 student,has recently received a Newman Civic Fellowship from Campus Compact, a non-profit organization based in Boston, Mass. She is one of 262 students who will make up the organization鈥檚 2019-2020 cohort of Newman Civic Fellows.
Beckett is a junior at MSUB, double majoring in Broadfield Science Education and Biology. She is actively involved on campus as an ASMSUB senator, student track athlete, Center for Engagement employee, and member of the Jacket Student Ambassadors. A Montana native from Broadview, Mont., Beckett is dedicated to making a difference in her campus, community, and home state.
鈥淏renna has a passion for service and serves her campus and greater community continually,鈥 said Chancellor Dr. Dan Edelman. 鈥淪he volunteers for multiple science education organizations in the area in addition to serving as a volunteer coach and mentor for high school students. Brenna is the epitome of a student leader on campus.鈥
Brenna is the fifth Newman Fellow for MSU Billings. Previous recipients include Liz Collins-2012, Lacey Mogan-2015, Daniel Mehrens-Wallace-2016, Haylee Mooney-2017, and Halle Keltner-2018.
The Newman Civic Fellowship, named for Campus Compact co-founder Frank Newman, is a one-year experience emphasizing personal, professional, and civic growth. Through the fellowship, Campus Compact provides a variety of learning and networking opportunities, including a national conference of Newman Civic Fellows in partnership with the Edward M. Kennedy Institute for the United States Senate.
